Ziggy

About Ziggy

Ziggy has just turned 8 months of age. He is a delightful young pup and there are no surprises with him because just like most pups he is very lively, sometimes mischievous and needs to be kept a constant eye on. He has learned a great deal since coming into our care and is looking for a family who can afford him daily, one-on-one time to continue with his training programme. The area that he still needs help with is lead training (which is very easily done) as he tends to pull quite a bit albeit randomly throughout a walk. The great news is that Ziggy is very intelligent, learns and picks things up very quickly and given the right environment we know that he will simply flourish. He is a very keen student and is the perfect age to be moulded into a new home situation.

Because he absolutely loves playing with other canines, Ziggy would be ideally suited to a family who already have an equally energetic, well-balanced and playful dog - preferably a sociable female who would have plenty of patience with a bouncy pup and who would be able to keep up with him. Here at NISBTR, our motto is 'A tired Stafford is a good Stafford' and that is definitely the case with Ziggy. With a canine companion to play with, Ziggy is so well behaved and is extremely gentle and well-mannered with them. He does enjoy his down-time and is quite happy to nap in his crate in between playtimes, so his new family would need to be able to offer him a quiet, calm atmosphere at home when needed.

Ziggy would also be ideal for an adult only family with no other dogs in the household but would definitely benefit from having plenty of canine chums that he could meet up with daily and have a run around with in a secure environment. For the next six months there will need to be at least one person at home for the best part of every day.

Ziggy is a high energy dog and will need a home with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for him to run around in, especially if he joins an existing dog. At least 1 hour of walking a day would be needed to keep Ziggy well exercised and at least twice that amount of time if he is rehomed as an only dog. He really does enjoying getting out and about - walking and exploring new areas is something he loves to do. His toys, especially soft ones, are a great source of entertainment for him. When he is well exercised, Ziggy loves his cuddles and learning new tricks.

Ziggy sleeps well at night and can be left for short periods of time in his crate. He can be a little unsettled on car journeys to begin with and would benefit from having a secure car crate to travel in. Any future family for Ziggy must have the time, patience and willingness to work with him. If they do, they will be rewarded with a fun, loving and playful little dog who really does have a great deal of potential. A back-to-basics training programme will be very rewarding for him and his new family.

As with almost all our dogs, Ziggy cannot be rehomed with a cat/s.
